My first visit since the Reno. great job, simple, yet elegant! Cheerful, friendly staff will take your order at the table!!! table service in a pub, unheard of Fantastic!!! No more lining up like sheep! As for the flood......... delightful! Prices,..........well below what you may expect. If you are tired of paying top dollar for very ordinary food at other pubs, try the South Aussie.

Met friends for lunch Saturday and was very impressed by the refurbished interior of the hotel. It is fresh, welcoming and modern. Service was professional and prompt, and the meals were all a work of art. As a vegan, I rarely find a meal I'd rush back for in the Mount, but the charred broccoli with Taiwanese BBQ sauce and cashew cream surpassed my expectations. Recommended by the wait staff, it was a culinary delight. I was surprised by a full plate beautifully presented cooked to perfection, covered with a tangy intricate sauce topped with nuts and grains, on a bed of cashew cream. It really was next level. My friends' omnivore meals were all beautifully presented too; I can see why one friend is a repeat customer. (I'd already started eating before I took the photo.)

This place was so good we cancelled our dinner reservations elsewhere so we could eat here again. The food was amazing and my steak was cooked to perfection (it's amazing how many people stuff up a rare steak). The schnitzel I had on the second night was so juicy. We also had the tiramisu (so delicious, I regretted opting to share it with my husband) and the 'brookie', which to be honest i wasn't excited about, but when it came out and I tasted that melted marshmallow and jam, I was blown away. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. If I ever pass through the Mount again, I will definitely be eating here.

Met a friend for a catch up and loved that we could sit in a booth and feel uninterrupted. The service was, as always, absolutely wonderful. You have the loveliest girls there, who are so friendly and happy and they give just the right amount of light conversation. The food was so delicious and I love the atmosphere, keep up the fabulous work.

Place was very aesthetic and many places to sit. The food was amazing, never had a better panini, and the staff were very friendly!

Recommended by the bloke who checked us into our accommodation, and it turned out to be a fantastic call. The space was warm and inviting, the service genuinely friendly, and the steak was cooked to absolute perfection. At $30 including a drink, it was excellent value and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. A lovely way to wrap up our evening in Mt Gambier.

South Australian Hotel – Steak Perfection Had the pleasure of trying the steak at the South Australian Hotel and it was absolutely perfect. Cooked exactly how I like it—juicy, tender, and full of flavour. The sear on the outside was spot on, and every bite melted in the mouth. Seasoning was balanced, and the sides complemented the dish beautifully. Easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Thank you
